Miss America interacts with students

It is rare opportunity for school students to interact with the Miss America but Friday was one such occasion when the current title holder Nina Davuluri interacted with them in several Indian cities.

Interacting via webchat,  Davuluri  gave answers to several questions asked by students on diverse issues ranging from importance of education in science, technology, engineering to Indian-American contributions to the US' culture and society.

Students from  National English School, Pailan World School, Mahadevi Birla World Academy and La Martiniere for Girls interacted with Davuluri at the US Consulate Kolkata.

Speaking to students, she said:" You should all remember that you need to learn from setbacks in life."

She had won the Miss America 2014 competition out of more than 13,000 young women on  a platform of "Celebrating Diversity through Cultural Competency.

Davuluri became the first Indian-American to become Miss America.

This year, she will also advocate for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
